Divorce impacts men's health more than thought

Divorce can take a huge toll on individuals, and many people struggle with the different ways divorce impacts their lives. Everyone is affected by divorce in different ways but a new study found that divorce may have a negative impact on men's health.

The study found that divorce can take a toll on the physical and mental health of divorced men. They reported that divorced and unmarried men have a higher rate of depression, substance abuse and mortality compared to men who are married.

The study said that divorced men had a 250 percent higher mortality rate compared to married men. The most common causes of death among divorced men in the U.S. are stroke, hypertension and heart disease. The study also reported that divorced men seem to be more likely to suffer from other diseases that can lead to long-term health complications and death.

In addition to the physical ailments divorced men are more likely to suffer, the study found that divorce affects their mental health as well. Divorced men have a higher risk of having depression, and receive psychiatric care more often than married men. Divorced men also have a higher suicide rate and are more likely to use alcohol and drugs.

The study's findings show that divorce can have a significant impact on men's health. Researchers said it is important for men and health care professionals to be aware of the ways divorce can impact a person's health and take steps to reduce the physical and mental impact divorce can have on an individual.
